“I Want To Be Me” joins YOU Effect!

To the “I Want To Be Me” Family,

It is with great excitement that we write you today with the latest news about our little gem of a film, “I Want To Be Me.”

Since we all gathered in Los Angeles and you shared your dreams of the future, “I Want To Be Me” has gone on to inspire audiences around the world to live out their dreams and to be comfortable with who they are, here, in the moment.

We are proud to announce that we are working with the YOU EFFECT – an online media space, where our youth ambassador, Kelly Lovell, is bringing together the youth leaders of today to talk about what is important to them and what they can do to make an impact.

We indentified with their statement that, “Youth are the key stakeholders in a variety of industries, ranging from consumer markets to media. Despite our influence, we lack a strong voice in society. It is our turn to be heard, but it is our responsibility to make ourselves recognizable.”

Touring our short film to schools and sharing our message to audiences around the world showed us that our simple message is making a difference. We are reaching out to more schools, organizations and groups, and we now WANT TO BE WE!

YOU EFFECT is launching with our signature film and is kicking off their site that will generate conversations about youth centric opinions and perspectives. Our mission is to amplify the voices of the future and empower them to be heard and we believe that YOU EFFECT has the power to do just that.

Please go to (http://youeffect.tumblr.com) and share it with the young people in your worlds.

Thank you to ECHS!

Thank you to Environmental Charter High School, the staff, teachers and especially your students – you are such a delight! It was a joy to teach our “I Want To Be Me” flagship workshop at your Career Day (and show case our award-winning short http://www.IWantToBeMeTheMovie.com) to such bright minds. We particularly enjoyed how receptive and participatory your students were in the creation of their future, which we hope you see as a great reflection of the amazing space you’ve created through ECHS 🙂 We certainly do and say hats off to you!Image

Official Selection “15-Minutes of Fame”

This past weekend “I Want To Be Me” screened at the “15-Minutes of Fame” Film Festival in Palm Beach, Florida. The “15-Minutes of Fame” is for SHORT FILMS that are 15-minutes OR LESS in length. They welcome films of nearly every type and style, including Music Videos, Animation, Documentaries, and Narratives. All entries are viewed by a panel of judges, and are carefully evaluated on a “point system” for their technical quality, script development, acting, and entertainment value. The films that earn the most points become “Official Entries”, and will be shown to the community in our film festival.

The “15 Minutes of Fame” film festival is “a truly independent festival, for truly independent filmmakers”. It is sponsored by husband-and-wife filmmakers, Ray and Migdalia Etheridge, who founded the festival in 2009. Their festival has succeeded where others have failed by “keeping it simple”. NO FRILLS…JUST FILMS.

I Want To Be Me in Times Square!

Hey I Want To Be Me Community! Pina and I just returned from a whirlwind tour of New York City. While in New York, we met with IWTBM actress, Kristin McCoy, in Times Square. While we were catching up on the latest and greatest, there was a rotating billboard above American Eagle and together we said that we wanted to be on the billboard. And, in the I Want To Be Me fashion, what is said is so and in between seeing the sites, the shows and the scenery, we had 15 seconds of fame on a Time Square Billboard and a chance to do a shout out for I Want To Be Me! Check it out!
